Birdwatching breaks in Scottish Borders and Northumberland

Birdwatching

Two mini breaks have been organised, one mid week (20 - 22nd April) and one a weekend break (7 - 9th May).

The groups will be small (maximum of 4) to ensure that you get the best attention of our guide. Not only will you experience the best of the Scottish Borders birds and scenery, our aim is to ensure that you have a relaxing experience with lots of good food and all the comforts of home.

Our guide Ron McCombe is an experienced and knowledgable bird watcher and has taken many of our guests out on day trips. He is also an excellent wildlife photographer and will be able to provide you with lots of hints and tips on how, when and where to get the best shots. See his website www.borders-birdwatching.co.uk

Your birdwatching break starts at 4pm on  the first day with afternoon tea. You then have a couple of hours to settle in to your accommodation or take a stroll around the twin villages of Kirk and Town Yetholm.

Dinner with your fellow birdwatchers and Ron follows a short introduction session on the area and what you are likely to see. (Dinner is served in our dining room, our "restaurant at home" , 3 courses plus wine and coffee)

Day 2 starts with a hearty Farmhouse breakfast, before setting out for a day's birdwatching. Sites will vary depending on the weather and current bird population. Picnic lunch provided.

Returning to The Farmhouse late afternoon, you may decide to rest or relax in our hot tub before dinner.

Day 3 will be a half day excursion, returning for lunch and a wrap up session in the afternoon when photos and experiences can be shared.

Guests depart at about 4pm after tea.

Cost £240 per person to cover all accommodation, food, transport and guide. For two people sharing a twin or double room there will be a 25% discount.

Don't forget your wet weather gear, warm clothing, bird books, binoculars and cameras
